Community voice was missing from the design process for Brooklyn's first Community Resilience Hub.

Research grounded in the six-pillar resilience hub framework plus NYC heat vulnerability data, then BKLVLUP's first multilingual hub survey — built and tested in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.

I built Clean Blocks, a working mobile prototype that surfaces community infrastructure data on a phone.

What isn't documented can't be defended — the landmarks, markets and infrastructure of The Flats were never written down.

Operators mapped substations, institutions, green spaces and historical sites live on Felt with Ground3D, annotated every point in full sentences, ran street interviews near Brooklyn College, and walked the route documenting shade, water and flood risk.

The communities hit hardest aren't always the ones who ignored the warning — emergency messaging assumes one audience, one language, one way of reading.

The team audited existing emergency communications across learning styles, generations and accessibility needs, researched community pact businesses, and tested canvassing scripts.
